In 1949 Carl Reiche bought his first log truck complete with a side loader and started purchasing logs and bush and getting the material sawn into lumber before selling it to wholesale customers. In 1960 he purchased the property adjacent to the current location and by 1963 was selling lumber at retail while maintaining the wholesale customers. In 1972 the business incorporated into C.A. Reiche and Sons Limited and their first forklift was purchased. Ron Reiche joined the business full time in 1978 after obtaining a B-Com from Queens University. In 1979 they added plywood to their previous inventory which consisted of spruce, white pine and hardwood lumber.
In 1980 C.A. Reiche and Sons purchased Fairview School from the Renfrew County Board of Education, which is now the current retail store. Wayne Reiche joined the business full time in 1981 after completing the forestry program at Sir Sandford Fleming and by 1984 had expanded their product line to include more building materials. They joined the Castle Building Centre Group Limited in 1986 to increase their purchasing power. They began retailing and installing carpet and vinyl flooring by 1988. In 1991 they bought their first knuckle boom to aid in delivery of materials and shortly after upgraded to a computerized point of sale system. In 1994 a 60’x60’ building was built at the site of the International Plowing Match for Media Day. The building was brought back to the yard and is used as an additional warehouse.
C.A. Reiche and Sons purchased Keetch’s Building Supply in Killaloe in 2000 and the following year purchased the inventory of Kramer Building Supply which launched C.A Reiche and Sons Limited into the masonry sales, selling Canada Brick. They now carry Hanson Brick and Arriscraft Stone along with masonry accessories and paving and wall stones. In 2003 C.A. Reiche purchased their first boom truck and two years later they bought their first Moffett truck mounted forklift to better service their customers in delivering materials.
In 2010 C.A. Reiche purchased Eganville Country Depot
C.A. Reiche and Sons is a proud supporter of the community by sponsoring local sports teams and community events. Some of the notables are Sarah Boudens-Olympic Kayaker, Rankin Community Centre Project, and the Miramichi Lodge Foundation Gala.

For the past 40 years, Eganville, ON has hosted this professional ice oval snowmobile racing event. Some of the greatest names in snowmobiling history have experienced the ‘thrill of victory and the agony of defeat’ on the Eganville track.
